My "Why" On Becoming A Transformation Coach

A phrase I use often in my coaching is the following: “It’s important to know your ‘why’ with everything that you do.”

Knowing your why is defining your purpose. Creating meaning. Adding uniqueness to a given task. In this blog post, I’m going to explain my why for becoming a Transformation Coach.

The primary reason for my why is that I truly believe that people can transform into whoever they want to be. And not just transform physically - transformations can happen mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

The reason I feel - and know - that people can transform is because I have completely transformed myself into the Coach Cooz writing this blog. My physical transformation ran from August 2023-August 2024, but my mental, emotional, and spiritual transformation journey started just prior to my physical one in June 2023. Little did I know then that the adversity, challenges, setbacks, and, ultimately, growth that I would end up encountering along that journey would become why I transformed myself. It would lead to me discovering my purpose. All the hardship and pain that I was enduring was happening for me, not to me.

Now, I want to be clear that this isn’t going to be an emo dump of all the hard things I’ve gone through in my life because that wouldn’t serve you as the reader nor would I want all my stuff out here on the Wild Wild West that is the Internet. However, I will say this:

I am you.

There is absolutely nothing special about me. I don’t have any superhuman gifts or rare genes in my DNA. I’m only 5’8”. I’m 30 at the time of this writing. And, more than anything else, I’m just a person. Just like you reading this.

I’ve been hurt. I’ve been let down. I’ve been heartbroken. I’ve been betrayed. I’ve gone through traumatic events. And I know I have also hurt people and let others down. And chances are, you’ve experienced all of these things, too.

It’s what makes us human.

But, it is indeed the trials and tribulations in the roller coaster that is our own unique human existence that creates the opportunities for growth. To become better. To become whoever we want to be.

And speaking for myself, I know that the end of 2023 and beginning of 2024 was the most difficult and challenging stretch of my life. Within that, though, is where my own transformation was being manifested into reality. The fact of the matter is, my entire life had been preparation for the transformation to come.

Within that period of seemingly losing everything, I began to realize that from nothing I can create everything. There was a version of me waiting to present itself to the world - he just needed the catalyst to be presented for him to appear.

I’m here now.

As someone who’s now in his 10th year of coaching, I’m a massive believer that coaches are best equipped to serve the person they used to be. So my aim is to guide you on your transformation journey. More specifically, a physical transformation through the lens of fitness and nutrition coaching. What I know for a fact is that your physical transformation journey will lead to a transformation in at least one of these other areas in conjunction:

- Spiritually
- Mentally
- Emotionally

That is why I do this.

My purpose in the remainder of my years here on Earth is to guide as many people as I can through the same transformation journey I was so blessed to have gone through - because I am you, and you are me. We’re all in this together.

It’s going to be hard. You’re going to have setbacks. There are going to be unexpected hurdles. But isn’t that also the perfect metaphor for life?

Wanna get better at life? Invest your time, money, and energy into your own physical transformation.

Invest in me. Because, really, it’s an investment back into you.

For a deeper dive into my why, listen or watch my podcast episode on any of the links below. I want to end this post with three of my favorite quotes:

”To know the road ahead, ask those returning.” - Chinese Proverb

“Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” - Romans 12:2 (CSB)

“I am nothing. I cannot be killed - only transformed.” - Acusio Bivona

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I look forward to serving you. The best version of you begins with step 1.
